	Murder at the Spaniel Show Murder at the Spaniel Show By Lynn Hall In this book, there is a girl and she loves dogs. She’s never been able to have a dog. She goes to dog shows. She rides her bike around before and after the shows, sees the dogs, and spends time with the dogs. That is how she has her “pet.” One day when she goes to the big pet show where they have cabins for the guests to sleep, there was a guy who walked through her cabin down to where there were two dog brothers. They were good brothers, meaning they were tight together. She has all this fear but she is also curious. She goes to stop this person but she is afraid the person will hurt her. A couple of days after, in the show, one of the brothers dies. And the next night, the other brother dies. A lot of people are sad and upset because they were really good dogs and everybody liked them. The girl had been crying about it and was really upset. Her parents got her a dog that looked like one of the brothers. One of her friends sadly said, “Oh, I didn’t realize how tightly tied together the two brothers were.” The girl gets over being sad and has her own dog. She thinks of the brothers, remembers them in happy memories. Review: In the book, I think that there were good details but in a couple of places the author could have added some such as when the girl was riding her bike. The author didn’t describe what the bike sounded like and I think that would have helped. The setting was good. I could really feel where she was, the wind when she was riding her bike and standing in the field when the pet shows were happening. In the book, figurative language was pretty good. The book had a lot of dialogue and it got confusing because in some parts there was too much figurative language and others not enough so it was kind up and down. In the book, for the two dogs, I kind of got an image but it wasn’t a strong one. I think the author could have put a little more effort into the two brothers. Other than that, I think it was pretty good in that respect. Characters The girl is a redhead. She has pretty tanned skin. She is average height. She’s pretty skinny and a dog lover.
